Libraries spend millions on electronic journal licences every year, but it has never been easy to gather statistics about how these resources are used.

We're working with JISC Collections, Evidence Base and Cranfield University to develop the JISC Usage Statistics Portal (JUSP), a new project that will provide libraries – and librarians – with a simpler way of analysing the usage and impact of their e-journal subscriptions.

Mimas is collaborating with UKOLN on the Linked Open Copac and Archives Hub (LOCAH) Project to investigate new ways of opening up data for users.

Working with Eduserv, Talis and OCLC, we're aiming to put archival and bibliographic data at the heart of the Linked Data Web.

By enabling innovative data exploration, our vision is to help researchers uncover even more about our history and society.

Names identify us, but not always very effectively. For example, our staff list has seven duplicated forenames for c. 60 individuals. Adding surnames avoids duplication – but not in the wider world. There are 333 people in the USA named 'Keith Cole'.

That's where the JISC-funded Names Project comes in – we're developing a name authority system to disambiguate names and provide unique identifiers for individuals – making it easier to correctly associate researchers with their research work.
